SLC Half Marathon 2013

Ran the SLC Half Marathon this morning.  It rained the entire run, and it was in the 40's, so it was a cold run.  I enjoyed it none-the-less. This was 5 days after the bombing at the Boston Marathon, so there were definitely emotions involved with this run.  Sad that there has to be so much concern for safety at an event like this, but understandable at the moment.  Lots of policemen and a few bomb sniffing dogs.
I enjoyed the route, and hope to do it again sometime.

Shamrock Half Marathon 2013

Half Marathon #3 in 2013: Ran the Shamrock Half in Saratoga Springs.  It was a 'start and finish in the same spot' race, but somehow felt like it was all uphill.  That isn't necessarily a bad thing, just a bit  more challenging then others.  I enjoyed the morning.  This event is much smaller than most, so a little more alone time during the race.  Finished with a time of 1:56:48.

Dogtown Half Marathon 2013

Half Marathon #2 in 2013: Friday after work I ventured all by onesies to Saint George for the Washington City Dogtown Half Marathon. Pictures are not available due to me not having my usual favorite photographer. I did run it though, and quite enjoyed it. As usual, I wasn't expecting it to be an uphill course, and it's probably not fair to call it an uphill course, but it had its fair share of uphill stretches mixed in throughout the course, just enough to make it challenging. My times suffer when I'm required to push my body up hills. I finished in 1:52:36. My last 3 halfs have been in the Saint George area. It's hard to beat the scenery, and the weather is usually nice for winter months. If Zazoosh photography catches me looking good on the run (an unusual thing for me), I may buy the picture and post it.

Saint George Half Marathon 2013

Half Marathon #1 in 2013: The race started at 9am.  It was about 25 degrees out.  Decided to wear a running jacket.  It wasn't the greatest idea.  I regretted it after a couple of miles.  Other than being hot, the run went good.  I hit a bit of a wall at mile 11.  I've decided it was because of the jacket.  Finished with a time of 1:51:21.  Last year at this same race I finished in 1:59:41.  The weather was much nicer this year as last year it was rainy.  I enjoyed it.

The Finish Line.  I'm back there somewhere.

Friendly inmates removing timing chips at the finish line.  They did a good job. Made me smile when I saw them.

Finished!

It was warm enough to swim outside in the heated pool.  They probably had more fun than I did.

1000 Miles in 2012

At the first of the year I set a goal to run 1,000 miles in 2012.  To some that sounds like a lot, to others that's just an ordinary thing.  For me it's something I had never considered until last year, and wasn't completely confident it was something I could accomplish.  After One Marathon, 4 half marathons, a Red Rock Relay, a few other races and a bunch of running with C and on my own I hit 1000 miles.  I'm pleased to say I finished with a month to spare.  Fortunately I was able to run throughout the year with only minor injuries and almost always enjoyed the journey.  Thanks to everyone who ran with me at different times.  Hope you enjoyed 'Running with Ryan' in 2012.
